A heavy fire broke out at a house in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood early Saturday, leading to a second alarm and two injuries, according to fire officials.
The rear of a 2-1/2-story building on Hazelton Street appeared covered in flames from the first floor to the roof by 6:45 a.m., and fire crews continued to work through the morning to prevent them from spreading to nearby houses.
One of the residents and a firefighter were taken to local hospitals by Boston EMS, officials reported.
Boston fire officials reported that four residents were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross of Massachusetts and Neighborhood Services are helping the people find temporary housing.
