2 Mexican Nationals Arrested in Maine Enter ICE Custody

The U.S. Border Patrol says agents in Maine apprehended two Mexican nationals in the state in late June

The U.S. Border Patrol says agents in Maine apprehended two Mexican nationals in the state in late June.

The patrol says the men were apprehended near Auburn on June 27. It says it received a tip from a citizen and found two men illegally present in the U.S. Both were taken to the Rangeley Border Patrol Station for processing.

The agency did not name the men. It says interviews determined one entered the country illegally through Laredo, Texas, earlier this year. He had previously held a valid non-immigrant visa that expired last year.

The agency says the other man was lawfully admitted to the country with a "border crosser card" in 2012. Those are only valid for short periods. Both men were transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
