Cape Cod Double Stabbing Suspect Due in Court

A 28-year-old Harwich, Massachusetts man is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday for a double stabbing in Cape Cod.

James Metellus is accused of stabbing a 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman early Wednesday following an argument with one of the victims in Hyannis.

Officials received a call reporting the stabbing at 1:24 a.m. and responded to 26 Yarmouth Road in the Cape Cod town. There, they found the male victim suffering from moderate injuries and the woman with minor injuries.

Metellus and the male victim were arguing in a parking lot when things turned violent, according to the Town of Barnstable Police Department. The female victim attempted to intervene when she was injured in the confrontation. Metellus then fled the scene in a black sedan.

The victims were taken to Cape Cod Hospital, according to the Hyannis Fire Department. They are expected to recover.

Barnstable police notified the Harwich Police Department of the stabbing and officials were able to intercept the suspect during his drive home. 

Metellus was charged with aggravated assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is due for arraignment Wednesday at Barnstable District Court.
