2 Teens Arrested in Worcester After Stealing a Vehicle

Two teenagers were arrested in Worcester Saturday evening after stealing a vehicle.

A Worcester Police officer noticed a car driving down Russel Street without headlights. The officer ran the license plate which revealed the car was stolen. The officer then activated his lights and sirens.

The operator of the stolen car passed a vehicle in the opposite lane and sped away. After the officer radioed the description of the missing car, another officer located it.

The teenagers made a reckless turn and crashed into a police cruiser. After striking the cruiser, the operator of the stolen vehicle struck a crosswalk sign and continued to drive recklessly until hitting an unoccupied parked car.

The passenger of the vehicle fled on foot until officers stopped them. The operator of the car was a 17-year-old male. He ignored police commands and spit on one of the officers as he was taken into custody.

The 17-year-old is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, receiving a stolen vehicle failure to stop at a stop sign, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, illegally attaching plate, leaving the scene of property damage, operating negligently as to endanger, use of a motor vehicle without authority and failure to stop for police.

The passenger, a 17-year-old male, is charged with resisting arrest, receiving a stolen motor vehicle and disorderly conduct and use of a motor vehicle without authority.
