2017 Boston Marathon Banners Unveiled

Officials unveiled the 2017 Boston Marathon banners Tuesday morning.

Several elite runners joined Boston Mayor Marty Walsh for Tuesday's unveiling.

Each year the marathon brings tens of thousands of runners and spectators to the city.

The banners are inspired by their unique stories and the memories created by the 26.2 mile journey from Hopkinton to the Back Bay.

This is artist Frank McKenzie's second time designing the banners, a process that he says takes months.

The theme this year is "Make it Your Moment."

Each banner is a celebration of all those moments leading up to the start and finish.

Marathon legend Bill Rogers and Olympians Desiree Linden and Eric Gillis helped unveil the banner. The social media hash tag for this year’s race also goes along with the theme, #BeBoston.

The 2017 Boston Marathon kicks off on April 2017.
