2nd Person Dies Following Head-On Crash

The second victim, believed to be older, had to be extricated after being trapped in one of the vehicles that crashed

Authorities say a second person has died following a head-on collision involving at least two vehicles on Route 5 in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Police told 22 News the second victim, who had to be extricated after being trapped in one of the vehicles that crashed at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, died following the crash.

Police closed Route 5 north between the Mount Tom Access Road and the Easthampton line to investigate the accident.

The names of the victims were not immediately made public.

The cause remains under investigation.
