A 26-year-old man died and a woman remains in the hospital, though expected to survive, after being injured in a shooting in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood Tuesday night.

Israel Mayhew, of Dorchester, died after being shot at Martini Park in Hyde Park around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins' office.

“The scourge of gun violence has claimed too many lives in Suffolk County," Rollins said in a statement. "My Office is working diligently with our law enforcement and community partners to bring answers and accountability to the victims, their families, and our community."

Boston Police were called to Truman Parkway shortly after 9:30 p.m. Two victims in their 20s -- one male and one female -- were taken to local hospitals.

One of the victims - now identified as Mayhew - was reportedly suffering from critical injuries.

No one has been arrested.

The incident is under investigation by the Suffolk District Attorney's office, state and local police.

Police earlier reported three victims, but later said only two people had been wounded.
