3 Juveniles Charged with Armed Robbery

Three teenagers were arrested Saturday and charged with the armed robbery of a man during a Facebook-arranged sale of an iPhone in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood.

Police said the three teenage males, aged 13, 14, and 16, brandished a sawed-off shotgun and ordered the man to give them all of his money in the area of 22 Chipman St.

The suspects fled on foot after taking the money from the victim.

They were located by police inside 66 Norfolk St., where they were arrested and charged.

They will be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court.

"It's troubling to me when we have to arrest kids at this young age, but I'm hopeful that this incident will be a wakeup call to them,” Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said. “As a police department, we never like to see teenagers in the system, but we can also use this as an opportunity to work with the community to get them the help they need to get on the right path."

All three teenagers will be charged with firearm-related offenses, according to the Boston Police Department.
