Temperatures are running cooler than normal by a couple of degrees for Tuesday. Highs again are in the upper 30s north, low to mid-40s south and with a light breeze from the northwest, it will feel a tad cooler because of the wind chill.
With highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s the next couple days, it is perfect maple syrup weather, let the sap flow!
More dry weather is in store for our first day of spring on Wednesday and we turn warmer with highs in the low 50s thanks to a south wind and a warm front approaching.
Scattered rain and a wintry mix will likely fall on Thursday morning through the evening with about 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain accumulation over the course of the day. Northern New England will see more of a mix and snow across higher elevations.
A cold front sweeps through Thursday night and will cool us down as we wrap the week.
There is a coastal low developing Thursday off the Carolina coast, and forecast models are uncertain on how close it tracks northeast near New England. The cold front may help to take this storm out to sea before it can reach the benchmark. We will keep a close eye on this situation, especially since tides are astronomically high.
Drier air moves in Friday through the weekend with the exception of mountain snow Friday afternoon. Highs cool into the mid-40s Friday, low 40s Saturday, but we increase into the low 50s by Sunday. Sunshine in the forecast both days.
We may make a run at 60 by next Monday as warmer air moves in again. Highs remain seasonable or just above average for the rest of the 10-day forecast. Slight chances for rain stay in the forecast Tuesday through Thursday.
