Massachusetts State Police Seize More Than 30K Bags of Raw Heroin

Four individuals suspected of heroin trafficking have been arrested in western Massachusetts; a fifth person is facing charges related to marijuana trafficking.

The Hampden District attorney's office says over 30,000 bags of raw heroin was seized when officials learned a large shipment coming to the area.

Massachusetts State Police witnessed a drug transaction at a self-storage facility in Chicopee and stopped four people on I-391 Tuesday.

Forty-one-year-old Fidel Gil of Connecticut and 23-year-old Paola Mercedes Reyes-Desantos were arrested on charges including trafficking in heroin over 200 grams. Six search warrants were executed, with two locations yielding significant seizures and arrests.

Twenty-two -year-old Christian Rivera of Springfield and 22-year-old Anthony Guadalupe were detained on several drug possession and trafficking charges. 

A fifth person, 21-year-old Springfield resident Cassandra Cardona, was arrested on drug possession and trafficking charge related to marijuana.

Attorneys for the five could not be immediately identified. They will be arraigned today in Springfield District Court.
