One person was killed in a crash on Route 195 in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts on Friday morning.
The victim, a 44-year-old woman from New Bedford, was determined by emergency personnel to be dead at the scene. The victim's identity has not been released.
Massachusetts State Police said they responded to the scene of the accident in the eastbound lanes of Route 195 shortly before 8 a.m. and found that a 2006 Mazda had struck a tree on the side of the road.
Video from the scene obtained by NBC10 Boston showed the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into trees lining the highway.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have yet to be determined, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
The right lane of Route 195 was closed until approximately 10 a.m., according to police.
