4th March Nor'easter Could Hit New England Next Week

A fourth March nor'easter could hit New England early next week, with models showing a greater than 50 percent chance of precipitation in the Boston area.

While it’s too early to discuss exact impacts at this time, at least some rain and snow is likely in New England.

Until then, however, things should be mostly quiet.

Winds will at times gust over 30 mph on Thursday, slowing power restoration in parts of southeastern Massachusetts. All the while, skies will remain partly cloudy, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

Clouds will melt away to some extent Thursday night, allowing for lows in the 20s to near 30. Watch for a few icy spots again as melting from today re-freezes.

Friday brings partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs mainly in the 30s.

Winds kick back up on Saturday, with highs in the 30s to near 40 under mostly cloudy skies. A cold front will approach from northern New England, and that may trigger an isolated flurry or snow shower.

Behind the front on Sunday, temperatures drop even more. It’ll be quite wintry feeling, with lows in the teens and 20s and highs only in the 30s. At least it will be mostly sunny.

Next week turns interesting again, with yet another storm forming near the coast.

Monday will be quiet in New England, with the first areas of rain or snow likely arriving late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Remember that spring officially begins next week as well.
