A 72-year-old Cape Cod man was arrested Friday after allegedly carjacking a group of people on Boston's Storrow Drive and crashing the vehicle.

Multiple people were forcibly removed from an SUV, Massachusetts State Police said. The alleged carjacker, a resident of the Hyannis village of Barnstable, drove off, according to authorities.

The driver crashed into "numerous other vehicles," then rolled over onto Boylston Street by the Bowker Overpass, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The man was detained and taken to Beth Israel Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Police said possible charges were being investigated.
