79-Year-Old New Hampshire Man Charged With Sexual Assault of Child

Police have arrested a 79-year-old New Hampshire man accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Phillip Andrews of Gilford was arrested Monday following an investigation that lasted five months. Andrews is charged with one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault, but authorities say additional charges are expected.

The victim was 11 to 12 years old at the time of the 2016 assault, police said.

Gilford police and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Andrews' home around noon Monday. He was later arrested and released on bail.

Andrews is due to be arraigned Jan. 3 at Belknap County Superior Court in Laconia. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
