Ocean effect flakes will be possible through late Monday morning. Skies will be sunny away from the coast through the day on Thursday. Temperatures will slowly rebound as well.
Highs by Wednesday may reach the upper 30s and low 40s. Don’t get used to this, though -- the cold will be making a return by the end of the week.
The first in the series of two cold fronts will move through Wednesday night. Temperatures will cool to the upper-20s and low-30s by Thursday. This first front will move through without any precipitation. Another front will move through Friday into Saturday.
Both of those days will be seasonable as temperatures reach the mid-30s. A light wintry mix or rain is possible Friday in early Saturday.

So far this winter, our cold has not coincided with any storm systems. It appears that’s about to change.
The secondary cold front will drop the temperatures into the upper 20s and low 30s by Saturday evening. Shortly after that cold front moves through, a coastal storm will develop off of North Carolina. Some of the models take the storm west, which would produce rain along the coast and significant snow inland; other forecast models are showing (consistently) a significant snow for all of the major cities in the northeast.

Right now, we are watching the Saturday night through Monday timeframe. Heavy precipitation, strong winds and coastal flood are all possible with this storm system.
Once that coastal storm exits, we are expecting sunny, dry weather to return after Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Stay tuned!
