    Monday: Sunny, low 90s.

Another active day across New England with reports of flooded roadways, toppled trees, down wires and even reports of a tornado.

The rain will continue through the afternoon as we are under this tropical air mass, which supports heavy downpours and the chance for severe weather. One to two inches of rain has fallen in a short period of time, the main reason why several warnings for flash flood were issued.

We expect the rain to subside as we lose daytime heat. The heaviest rain will be out to sea by Saturday evening. Temperatures will rebound Saturday afternoon as we get a break from the rain, especially over western locations, and highs will be in the 80s.

Saturday night, the muggy air sticks around and temperatures will range between 61 to 69 degrees but we will be under mostly clear skies.

By Sunday, high pressure will be in control and allow for a stable weather pattern under lots of sunshine. Then, our focus shifts to the heat as highs will soar to nearly 90 degrees.

It looks like it will be the beginning of a heat wave, as our forecast shows three consecutive days with temperatures near 90 or above.

After an active couple of days, sunshine and quiet conditions will stay with us until Tuesday with showers and storms returning Wednesday with the potential for strong storms once again.
