The Boston Red Sox will start ace Chris Sale in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros on Saturday and David Price in Game 2 on Sunday.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced his first two starters during an appearance on the Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo show on the Major League Baseball Network on Wednesday.
Sale pitched a scoreless eighth inning before giving way to closer Craig Kimbrel in Tuesday's American League Divisional Series clinching win over the New York Yankees. He was credited with the victory in Game 1 of the series after giving up 2 runs in 5-1/3 innings.
Price, who is 0-9 as a starter in the playoffs, registered just five outs while giving up three runs as the Sox went on to lose 6-2 to the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS.
Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 8:09 p.m. at Fenway Park. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 7:09 p.m.
This is shaping up as a very busy weekend in Boston sports.
The Boston Bruins were originally scheduled to play the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at 7 p.m., but moved their game up to 3 p.m. in order to avoid a conflict with the Red Sox playoff game.
