An alleged drunk driver crashed near the Hampton, New Hampshire, toll plaza on Interstate 95 southbound early Sunday morning, according to state police.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle being operated by 32-year-old Meritel Saintil of Exeter drove head-on into the crash bunker that separates the high speed toll lanes from the rest of the southbound travel lanes around 2:26 a.m. As a result, three of the southbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes while the crash was investigated.
Saintil was transported to Exeter Hospital where she was treated with non-life threatening injuries. She was ultimately placed under arrest and charged with DWI. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
