Emotional Testimony From Victim's Mother During Alemany Trial

Jurors in the Edwin Alemany murder trial saw crime scene video Tuesday down the path in Stony Brook Reservation where Alemany allegedly left 24-year-old Amy Lord after allegedly beating her and stabbing her to death on July 23, 2013.

Meanwhile, Lord's mother Cindy took the stand, at times becoming emotional as she recalled little details about her daughter, even the necklace she was wearing when she was killed.

"It's an angel's wing necklace that we gave Amy," said Cindy as her voice cracked, "my husband and I gave it to her for her 23rd birthday."

Cindy held back tears as she described the moment she learned something might be wrong, when she got a call from her daughter's boss saying she hadn't shown up for work or the gym that morning.

"He told me that they had gone to her apartment to check to see and she was not there and it appeared that her gym bag and her lunch bag were missing and they had called the police to report her missing," Cindy said.

Becoming increasingly concerned, Cindy described picking her husband Dennis up at work and driving the roughly 90 minutes from the Wilbraham area to Amy's South Boston apartment - calling and texting Amy with no response.

Later that afternoon, Cindy said they learned Amy's black Jeep had been found, but it was more bad news.

"That it had been burned," said Cindy.

Cindy said it was just hours later that two Boston Police homicide detectives came to the house and pulled her and her husband aside.

"To let us know that they had found Amy and that she was gone," Cindy said.
