Hopefully, you had some time to soak in the sun and seasonable temperatures today, because changes are brewing for Friday.

A warm front approaches the area Friday morning, bringing scattered sprinkles and showers to our forecast for the morning commute. Off and on showers continue all day Friday with drizzle, patchy fog and clouds in between.

All that and an easterly wind will keep our temperatures in the 40s and 50s. The heaviest rain falls Friday evening, overnight and into Saturday morning. Downpours and embedded thunderstorms bring a chance for street flooding, lightning and thunder, small hail and a strong or damaging wind gust in the strongest storms.

The rain stays heavy until mid-morning, then the system slowly moves out to the northeast. Saturday afternoon we will see highs in the 50s to low 60s where the sun breaks out for a short time, but it will be breezy.

Sunday begins dry with increasing clouds and scattered rain by the afternoon through Monday morning. Highs on Sunday will be in the 50s to 60s.

The jet stream pattern will be right across the northeast, and pretty zonal (from west to east). This means no ups or downs with our temperatures in the 10-day forecast. But this also means repeat rain chances every 24-36 hours.

Not a lot of dry periods through the rest of April. This pattern continues for the start to May.
