Police have arrested a man in connection with the suspicious death of a baby goat in Ashburnham, Massachusetts.
The suspect, who police say is not from Ashburnham but from the surrounding area, was arrested and booked into jail shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday.
The goat had been missing before it was discovered approximately 100 yards from its pen. Police believe the suspect cut a hole in the goat's fence, lured the goat out into the woods and attacked it.
Sgt. Wade Wright said the goat had a couple of puncture wounds and its throat was cut.
"Things were discovered on scene that we are sending to the State Police crime lab and they will be processed," Sgt. Wright said.
Pat Stewart, who says her goats are like her puppies, has been reeling since the baby goat she raised was found killed Friday morning.
"I'm sad," Stewart said. "I had her in the house for two months."

Stewart said she had heard of some other goat deaths in the area within the last couple of months, but that she had never seen anything like that in Ashburnham.
"It was somebody who is not completely alright in the head," Stewart said of the suspect. "Nobody else would have done it."
Sunday's arrest came after police received a tip in connection to the investigation.
Authorities did not reveal what the motive may have been.
The suspect, who has not been identified, will make an initial court appearance Monday in Gardner. It's not immediately clear what he is being charged with.
