Arrest Made After Car Goes Into Dracut Building

A man was arrested after he allegedly crashed his pickup truck into the Dracut, Massachusetts Department of Public Works Building.

Police say 50-year-old Michael Gagnon of Dracut caused extensive damage Saturday afternoon after his truck veered off the road and hit the corner of the brick building.

Gagnon was arrested and charged with, among other things, driving under the influence of alcohol. Police say that they also found two open alcohol containers in his car.

Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett says it was "very fortunate" that no one was inside the building at the time of the accident. The building has to be checked out by a building inspector before it will be reopened.
