Benny's Clarifies Closing Plans, Announces Sale Has Ended

Benny's released a schedule further detailing the chain's plan to close all of its stores in southern New England after 93 years of business. The store, whose owners are retiring, announced plans to close over the summer.

The closures are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

The East Providence store closed earlier this week. The Park Avenue store in Cranston and the store in Middleborough, Massachusetts, will close Saturday. The Danielson, Connecticut, store will close on Wednesday.

Five stores will close Oct. 6: Old Saybrook, Norwichtown and Killingly, Connecticut; and East Wareham and South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Stores in Bristol, Middletown, Westerly and West Shore Road in Warwick will close on Oct. 7.

A company spokesperson also clarified that the store-wide 40-percent off sale has ended, with the remaining inventory being consolidated across the stores that will remain open until further notice. Those stores are:
