An athlete working toward finishing a triathlon was killed when his bike was hit by a pickup truck Sunday in Sudbury, Massachusetts.
Saadin Solah, 53, was struck on Route 27 near Hudson Road. Sudbury Fire rushed him to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
His mangled bike was left in the middle of the road.
"I think it definitely is a reminder that you have to be careful when you're racing, and take those turns a little more conservative than you would," said triathlon participant Adam Rafael.
The accident happens just before 10 a.m. Sunday. Shortly after, organizers cancelled the remainder of Sudbury Spring Spring Triathlon.
It consisted of a 400 yard swim, a seven mile bike ride and then a 2.3 mile run.
"I had finished the race before they stopped it," said Rafael. "Some people hadn't even started the swim."

Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown had also just finished the race. He tweeted that his prayers are with the racer and his family.
Signs warned drivers to watch out for racers. Neighbors say the intersection can be dangerous.
"We've been living here for 40 years or so, and there have been a handful of accidents - perhaps no more than other intersections, but I'm always careful when I go through it," said Will Mack.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation, which the Middlesex District Attorney's Office is overseeing.
