Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is visiting New Hampshire this week, jump starting his candidacy in one of the states considered most important in the primaries.

Biden, who announced his candidacy for president later than many on April 25, will be making three stops in the Granite State.

"It's good to be back in New Hampshire," he said at his first stop Monday, a visit to The Community Oven in Hampton. "I plan on doing everything I can to earn the respect and support of the people of New Hampshire. I'm going to be here a lot."

Biden told the crowd this election is "bigger than any you've been engaged in, not because I'm running, or anybody else is running, but because of who occupies the office. This election is, quite frankly, bigger than politics. It's more important."

He said there are three key reasons he is running: to restore the soul of the country, to rebuild the backbone of the country and to unite the country.

After his Hampton stop Monday, Biden was scheduled to speak at Manchester Community College at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, he will be headlining a house party in Nashua at the home of former state Sen. Bette Lasky at 11:30 a.m.

This is Biden's first public visit to New Hampshire since the spring of 2017.

A survey conducted at the end of April showed Biden leading the Democratic primary in the state. He is also surging in national polls.
