Authorities are trying to figure out who is behind a racist incident on the campus of Boston College.

Over the weekend, a photo was posted by a student on Facebook of a Black Lives Matter sign with the word "don't" scribbled on it between "lives" and "matter". The sign had allegedly been defaced in a residence hall on the Chestnut Hill campus.

Boston College officials, who are also investigating a disturbing social media post, released a statement saying it condemns all acts of hate.

"Boston College condemns all acts of hate and is committed to holding any student who violates our standards accountable," read the statement.

Officials are also reminding students there is support and counseling services available to anyone who needs it.

At this point, it's unclear if anyone is being held responsible for the racist incidents. In the meantime, college officials are calling on students to unite.

"(We're) calling upon all members of the BC community to treat each other with respect and to stand united against intolerance in any form," read a statement.

The BC incidents come after racist graffiti was discovered on the campus of Framingham State University earlier in the week. Authorities there are investigating that incident as a hate crime, but have only a few leads.

Two weeks ago, officials at Salem State University discovered racist graffiti at the school's baseball field. In May, the school's Twitter account was hacked and a series of racist tweets were sent.
