Blackbird Doughnuts to Expand to Allston-Brighton

A gourmet donut shop is in expansion mode once again, as it plans to open a huge new outlet that will include room for production.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Blackbird Doughnuts is going to be opening in the Allston-Brighton area, with the Holton Street address indicating that it will move into a space just south of a section of Western Avenue where extensive new development is taking place. The post says that the new location will have 5,600 square feet of space and that it will include a retail shop along with a production kitchen, and this will indeed be an expansion--not a move--with current locations on Tremont Street in the South End and Kilmarnock Street in the Fenway remaining in operation. If all goes well, the new outlet of Blackbird Doughnuts could be opening by the end of the year.

In addition to its two existing locations and its upcoming Brighton space, Blackbird Doughnuts is also planning to open within Harvard University's Smith Campus Center in Cambridge as well.
