Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara is coming back for the 2018-19 season.

Team General Manager Don Sweeney announced that the defenseman signed a one-year contract extension through next season worth $5 million. The contract includes an additional $17.5 million in performance-based incentives, according to the team.

Chara, 41, is the second-oldest active player in the National Hockey League, and is the longest-tenured captain. At 6-foot, 9-inches, he's also the tallest player in the league.

He has played for the Bruins for 12 seasons, leading them to eight postseasons and a Stanley Cup Championship, and is currently in his 20th overall season as an NHL player.
