Boston Children's Hospital Nurse Fired Over Alleged Inappropriate Messages to Teenage Girl

Andrew Reghitto was charged with enticing a child under 16 after he allegedly sent messages and photos of himself to a 15-year-old girl he knew

A nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital was recently fired after being accused of sending inappropriate messages to a teenage girl.

Andrew Reghitto, 30, was charged with enticing a child under 16 after he allegedly sent messages and photos of himself to a 15-year-old girl he knew in Lynnfield.

The mother of the teen spoke exclusively to NBC10 Boston about the allegations.

“It’s unbelievable to me every day,” said the parent, who asked not to be identified.

According to the alleged victim’s family, the messages from Reghitto began after they ran into him at a funeral. Shortly after that in January, police said he reached out to the teen on Instagram.

In a series of photos the teen took, Reghitto allegedly asked her if she would be interested in hanging out and if she would lie to her mother about it. Things then escalated from there.

One message asked, “Is it weird I wanna kiss you?”

After that, the teen received a series of photos on Snapchat, allegedly depicting Reghitto with explicit captions.

“I was extremely disturbed and extremely disgusted,” the teen’s mother said. “Knowing that he would be around that many children every day as part of his profession, that added a very big layer of concern to my feelings.”

After going to the police, the teen’s mother also went directly to his employer. While the teenager had a connection to Children’s Hospital, a spokeswoman said Reghitto had been removed from his position.

“As soon as we were notified by the authorities regarding the allegations brought forth against Andrew Reghitto, he was immediately put on leave which revoked all badging and computer privileges, and he has since been terminated,” said hospital spokeswoman, Kristen Dattoli.

A request for comment from Reghitto’s attorney had not yet been returned.

Reghitto was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay off social media while his case is pending in court.
