Boston Man Arrested for Murder, Stabbing

One stabbing victim is dead, another is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries

A Boston man has been arrested in connection with a murder and stabbing in Malden, Massachusetts, early Saturday morning, according to officials.

Juan Buruca, 39, is charged with murder, armed assault with the intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

Malden Police responded to reports of a double stabbing around 1:15 a.m. on Newhall Street. Two men were found with stab wounds and taken to nearby hospitals.

Jorge Alberto Machado Mejia, 48, of Malden, was pronounced dead at Whidden Hospital. The second victim, a 45-year-old man, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed that Buruca is related to one of the victims. The alleged weapon has been recovered.

Buruca will be arraigned in Malden District Court on Monday, Aug. 11.
