Boston Marathon Bombing Survivors Pen Children's Book

A husband and wife injured in the Boston Marathon bombing are unveiling a new children's book they authored.

Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes will be at the Boston Public Library on Thursday to release the picture book "Rescue & Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship."

The story details the relationship between a disabled girl and her service dog. It's loosely based on Kensky's own service dog, named Rescue.

Downes and Kensky were newlyweds when both lost legs in the 2013 attacks near the marathon finish line. Kensky later had to have her remaining leg amputated.

The couple will read from the book, sign copies and take questions at the event.

They will be joined by the book's illustrator, Scott Magoon, and the black Labrador that inspired the story.
