A group of self-described queer nuns and a Taiwanese activist group were among the winners of the Boston Pride Parade and Festival earlier this year, organizers announced Wednesday.

The parade, held June 8 under the theme, "Looking Back, Loving Forward," and drew hundreds of thousands of revelers to the heart of the city.

Boston Pride said in a statement that the Boston Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence earned the award for best adaptation to this year's theme; while Boston Taiwanese for Equality won the award for best marching group.

The Mosaic School won for the best youth group, organizers said.

This year’s parade was the largest in the event’s history, said parade chair and Boston Pride board member Martha Plaza. It featured 431 groups and 50,000 marchers who traveled from Copley Square to City Hall Plaza, according to Boston Pride.

Corporate groups REI and Dorchester Brewing Company were awarded with the Best First Timers Award and Best Float, respectively.

The winners were announced at an open house on Wednesday.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka presented a $10,000 donation to the Boston Pride community fund, Boston Pride said.

“The Boston Pride Community Fund provides grants to small grassroots LGBTQ groups that may not have any other financial assistance,” said Linda DeMarco, Boston Pride President.

The fund has awarded almost $100,000 to 60 grassroots organizations in the area since 2016, the group said.

Boston Pride is already looking ahead to the 2020 parade, which will be the 50th anniversary of Boston Pride, said the organization.
