Boston Woman Making Her Mark With Fitness Classes, Leggings

With endless fitness classes to choose from, one Boston woman is making her mark.

Her brand is targeted to a body part she says used to be deemed taboo, but she has made it the center of her fitness class and fashion line. It's catching on by the thousands for women in Massachusetts.

The Booty By Brabants class by Kelly Brabants is a high-energy class for all ages that targets your behind. Brabants' main mission is to make women feel empowered.

Women who have taken her classes say the burpees and squats have them feeling confident when they leave.

“This is everything. My workout to me is my happy place,” said Brabants, creator of BBB.

The 28-year-old Massachusetts native and former dancer created her fitness class seven years ago with the idea she could do something different that women would really love.

“At the time I really had no idea what I was doing but I had a concept and I wanted to test it with my friends,” Brabants said.

Seven years later, what started as a small following while she rented a place in Chinatown, is now a jam packed class several times a week at Boston Sports Lab.

Her Instagram following, which is her main marketing tool, has grown from 300 followers to tens of thousands during that time.

Brabants has gone from fitness to fashion with her signature croco leggings.

“I called my dad and said, 'what do you think about Booty by Brabants?' And he said, 'you’re not putting my last name in the same sentence as booty,'” the fitness instructor recalled.

What started as 100 leggings she had made from a comfortable material she found in Brazil now has her selling thousands of pairs to women all over the US, including the New England Patriots cheerleaders who rock them on the sidelines of games.

“I literally have every single color I’m not even exaggerating,” said Emily Williams.

Brabants is launching her new fitness line next week called 'not your average basic.' She said the point is to make women feel their sexiest in the most simple of athleisure- wear.

“This is how I feel the most comfortable and confident and I really want everyone to have that same feeling. And I hope these make women feel like less is more,” she said.

Brabants says her message through her sweat-dripping classes and booty-complimenting leggings is always the same:

“I just want to make women feel really amazing about themselves.”
