Boston's Tip O'Neill Tunnel to be Closed Tuesday

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is urging motorists to plan ahead as a portion of I-93 southbound will be closed Tuesday night into Wednesday.

All lanes will be closed off in the Tip O'Neill Tunnel through Boston for scheduled maintenance. The tunnel will close Tuesday, June 2 at 11 p.m. and it will not reopen until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.

Beginning at exit 28, traffic will be diverted to the Mystic Ave. off-ramp. From there, traffic will be directed through Sullivan Square to Rutherford Ave. Traffic will return to I-93 via the on-ramp at Albany Street and Herald Street.

MassDOT encourages drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to minimize lengthy delays.
