6 People Rescued After Boat Overturns in Cape Cod Canal

There's no immediate word on the condition of those rescued

Six people have been rescued after their boat overturned in the Cape Cod Canal, the U.S. Coast Guard says.

The Bourne and Onset fire departments responded Sunday night after a vessel described as a 21' Red Outrider overturned in the canal. The USCG Station Cape Cod deployed but the fire departments already had the situation under control when their assets arrived on scene.

Initial reports came in to the Wareham Police Department for people in the water.

Multiple ambulances were on scene but there was no immediate word on the conditions of those rescued.

It's unclear at this time why the boat overturned.
