Scattered Showers, Storms Around Eastern New England

The same upper level low pressure system that caused that weather is still here today, but it has weakened a bit

The severe storm outbreak in western New England yesterday left many damage reports, with hail the most prominent, and also some wind damage.

There were no tornadoes reported, though there was briefly a tornado warning in effect for parts of Connecticut on Wedneday night.

The same upper level low pressure system that caused Wednesday's weather is still here today, but it has weakened a bit.

We also have a push of warmer air thanks to more of a wind from the west, and temperatures in some areas may push 80 degrees today.

We still have to keep an eye on the sky, as scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely for areas that mostly missed them Wednesday.

Along the Massachusetts Turnpike in points south, southeastern New Hampshire, and the state of Maine, are the most likely areas for thunderstorms that may drop some hail and brief gusty winds.

But most of the day is bright and warmer, with the wind from the southwest of 10 to 15 mph.

Partial clearing and cooler weather overnight, with a low temperature in the 40s to lower 50s. Patchy dense fog is possible once again.

Our Friday looks fairly similar, with a good amount of sunshine and a mostly dry day, but there still can be a shower or thunderstorm.

Temperatures won't be quite as warm, but we should be in the 70s south and 60s north. The wind from the west will be a little stronger, 15 to 20 mph.

A small high-pressure system should give us a nice Saturday, with a mixture of sun and clouds and temperatures close to 70 degrees. With many graduations and parties going on, you should be able to get away without needing a tent - unless you want to keep out of the sun, that is (the day should be rain free).

A warm front approaches from the west Sunday with increasing clouds. Much of the day should be dry, but it may end up raining by sunset. Highs will be near 70, cooling in the afternoon.

Then we may get a day or two with wind from the east and northeast with clouds and rain returning for the beginning of next week.

Temperatures will hold in the 50s and 60s Monday and Tuesday before a warming trend in the middle of next week.

The month of May went into the books as cooler and wetter than normal, and that is how June is going to start off too. But we should see a rebound by the end of next week.
