Brothers Deny Trying to Abduct Teen Girl

Police say the brothers approached the girl at her school bus stop Wednesday morning, told her she was pretty and offered her candy

Two brothers in their 60s from Cape Cod charged with trying to entice a 13-year-old girl into their van by offering candy have been held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Sixty-one-year-old Bruce Bartlett and 60-year-old Dennis Bartlett pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges including child enticement and attempting to commit a crime.

Police say the brothers approached the girl at her school bus stop Wednesday morning, told her she was pretty and offered her candy. The girl ran, got on the bus and told school officials.

The Bartletts were arrested based on the girl's description of them and their white van.

Local police say the brothers are well known to them.

Their court-appointed lawers say their clients have been misidentified.

They are due back in court Wednesday.
