Evander Kane believes Zdeno Chara gave him a cheap shot, but the NHL apparently thinks otherwise.
The Boston Bruins defenseman won't have a hearing with the NHL Department of Safety after the league reviewed his hit on Kane during Tuesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks, a spokesman told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.
Chara hit Kane with a nasty elbow in the third period of Boston's 4-1 win at TD Garden, sparking a heavyweight fight between the two veterans.
The Sharks winger griped after the game that Chara's hit was a "classic headshot," but Chara, who is seven inches taller than Kane, didn't appear to intentionally target Kane's head.
It seems the NHL agrees, as Chara and the B's will roll into Thursday's showdown against the Tampa Bay Lightning riding a 14-point streak.
