Caserio: ‘Honored and Privileged' to Be in New England

In a rare move, Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio was made available to the media on Saturday morning prior to the start of Day 3 of Patriots training camp.

Caserio was the subject of rumors throughout the off-season linking him to the general manager opening with the Houston Texans, but he ultimately remained in New England after the Patriots filed tampering charges against their AFC rival. Caserio's contract does not allow him to interview with other NFL teams.

Generally, Caserio addresses the media in Foxboro around the NFL Draft, and that's it.

"I'm pretty honored and privileged to be in the position I'm in, working for this organization," Caserio said. "It's a great organization with a lot of great people. I'm thankful for the opportunities I have every day to come to work in this building."

Bill Belichick got testy at his press conference on Thursday when asked about Caserio's status, referring to the situation as "water under the bridge."

"My job is really just to serve the people in this building. We've got a lot of great people and my focus is on trying to do the best that I can every day and be the best version of myself," Caserio said. "I love being here and right now we're focused on getting the team ready for this season."

Caserio has been with the Patriots since 2001 and has held his current title since 2008.

In other Patriots news, Caserio also confirmed that running back Sony Michel is off the PUP list and will return to practice on Saturday. In regards to Tom Brady being a spectator to Friday's practice, Caserio said that Brady is "fine" and that he wouldn't put too much stock into his absence from drills. Brady, who turns 42 on Aug. 3, is back at practice on Saturday.

David Andrews, who missed the first two days of training camp, is "day-to-day," per Caserio. Michael Bennett's absence is due to personal issues, he said.
