Celtics Find Their Western Road Trip a Bit Bumpy

The Celtics are in a bit of a rut.

Currently second in the Eastern Conference with a 40-24 record, Boston has lost five out of its last eight including two straight on the road.

After a 116-102 loss on Monday night to the Clippers in Los Angeles, Isaiah Thomas continued to express his frustration.

"Everything," the guard said. "We should have won this game. We should have won (Sunday) night (in Phoenix). We can't be experimenting in Game 63."

Thomas continued: “It’s just the way we lost tonight was unacceptable. We lost the game in the last 15 minutes of the game. We played a really good game up until the last 15 minutes. And that’s the players’ fault, the coaches’ fault, that’s everybody in this locker room’s fault. We could have done a lot better.”

Thomas was asked about his own fourth quarter minutes where he played 8:34 and scored 10 points and the decisions made by head coach Brad Stevens.

"He's a very smart dude and he does a good job of the substitution patterns," Thomas said. "But, like, tonight I didn't say nothing to him. Maybe I should have but it is what it is. We'll figure it out."

Thomas finished with 32 points in L.A. and scored 35 in the loss to Phoenix Sunday and he’s not giving up hope of catching first place Cleveland.

"We're only three games back. It's not the end of the season," Thomas said. "We could go on a five-game winning streak starting next game. You never know. That's how fast things can change. But we have to figure it out. We will. We can't panic, but tonight hurt. It hurt me, I know that."

The Celtics will have another big challenge Wednesday with a trip to Golden State. The Warriors have the best overall record in the NBA at 52-11, but are without star forward Kevin Durant who’s dealing with a knee injury.
