7-Year-Old Shooting Victim Released from Hospital

Police are seeking the gunman who fired five bullets

Seven-year-old Divan Silva, is now out of Boston Children's Hospital, three days after he was shot, caught in the crossfire outside his grandmother's Dorchester home on Sunday.

Police say the gunman fired five bullets. Silva and a 20-year-old man were both hit. The intended target is not known.

A surveillance video shows the moments before and then after he was struck in the upper thigh as he was riding his bike on the sidewalk along Bowdoin Street.

"He's doing ok now. Tonight, I don't think (he's coming here to Dorchester). Maybe tomorrow. He'll be ok," said Nina DePina, family friend, who said the boy is staying in Brockton.

Hours before he was released, Divan was part of a group of patients to welcome a special visitor to Children'a Hospital, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Divan and his mother even got to pose with Gronk.

Meanwhile, as this boy recovers, Boston police were walking the beat in the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood Wednesday and are searching for the gunman, described as a heavy set 14-18 year old, about 5'8" seen wearing a red hoodie, white shorts and sneakers, who fled in a white four door sedan.

"Our officers take it really personal when a young kid like that, minding his own business gets shot," said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans.
