For the first time since last Friday, most of us are starting off the day with temperatures below freezing.
Strengthening low pressure over Nova Scotia is pulling some new cold air into New England from Canada, with the last of the snow ending in Eastern Maine.
For most of us though, it’s just a cold dry start with temperatures in the teens and 20s. Wind from the northwest is gusting past 25 mph, adding an extra chill. Plenty of sunshine for our Tuesday high temperatures in the 20s to lower 30s, and the wind will gradually decrease during the afternoon.
High-pressure moves south of New England Wednesday allowing for a warmer return flow from the southwest, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures close to 40 degrees. Strengthening low pressure to our west and south will push a warm front in on Thursday, with clouds in the afternoon but mostly dry, high temperatures will be in the 40s to near 50 degrees.
A massive area of low pressure will come to the East Coast on Friday, spreading warmer weather and rain into all of New England by late in the day. Rain may be heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm as the temperature pushes into the 50s by evening.
That low-pressure system slowly weakens and moves out of New England over the weekend. Although we do not expect much sunshine, temperatures will stay above normal through Sunday afternoon. Rain likely ends with snow showers in the mountains during Sunday afternoon.

Christmas Eve Monday looks like a colder day -- a weak area of low pressure may move out of the mid-west, so the possibility of a little bit of snow still exists on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
But due to this warmer storm on Friday, it looks like a lot of New England, outside of the ski areas, may end up with a rather green Christmas. Of course, the weather is always a work in progress and things can change, and we will be there to let you know.
