Crisp and Chilly Temps for Copley Tree Lighting

The weather for the tree lighting at Copley Square Monday night looks nice with temperatures in the upper 30s by 5 PM. (Published Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017)

Our Sunday was much colder than our Monday. So far this November temperatures have been below average 16 days. It’s a turn around to much more seasonable weather, compared with October when only three days featured below average temperatures.

The final few days of November will be around average. Currently temperatures for the month of November are 1.2° below average.

Snow showers with a weak disturbance are possible tonight. Up to an inch of snow is possible in a few areas in the Merrimack Valley and southern New Hampshire. Be mindful of any slick spots on the roads overnight and early Monday morning.

Not much exciting weather over the next several days. Temperatures will moderate into the mid 50s by Wednesday and then drop back into the 40s by Thursday. Seesawing temperatures appear likely through the next 10 days. The weather for the tree lighting at Copley Square Monday night looks nice – temperatures in the upper 30s by 5 PM. Thursday nights tree lighting at Boston Common will also be pleasant with temperatures around 40°.

Models were showing a significant storm by the end of the week and weekend, however, it isn’t looking that way today. Showers are possible, but the heavy rain and high winds are looking less likely at this point.

For any fellow weather geeks, we are looking at a significant storm in the Bering Sea. Wave heights of 27.2 feet have been observed so far. The forecast wave heights overnight could go over 50 feet. Hurricane force winds are also possible with gusts as high as 100 MPH. Yikes!
