A cold front continues to move towards New England this evening, bringing scattered storms and showers with it. The storms will weaken as they head towards Boston and eastern New England.

A brief strong storm may make its way into western New England, or across the North Country, with gusty wind, small hail, lightning and heavy rain as the main threats.

The rain will stay off and on with rumbles of thunder through midnight. Then the rain exits by Friday morning.

We start off mild with highs hitting late morning, then decreasing along the coastline as the wind shifts from the west northwest to the north, northeast. It will be a breezy day with gusts up to 40 mph and highs in the 60s.

Saturday starts dry, ends with scattered rain as a low pressure system passes north of us. The cold front triggers showers and storms Saturday night into Sunday as the frontal boundary doesn't quite move out and stalls a bit to the south.

Then another wave of rain lifts through Monday morning and we clear out the afternoon. The timing is tricky on these rain waves, so stay tuned for updates for our Memorial Day weekend forecast.

Temperatures will be in the low 70s Saturday, low 80s Sunday, and in the low 70s on the coast Monday with 80s inland. More summer-like warmth is on the way for next week too.

Thunderstorms chances stay low but almost daily Tuesday through the end of next week. Highs peak in the mid-80s for mid-week, plus inland areas could hit the 90s. Extreme Weather Photos: Imelda Soaks Southeast TexasExtreme Weather Photos: Imelda Soaks Southeast Texas
