New England

Cool Start to Week Ahead

Most cool all week as spring officially arrives

It’s a sunny and cool St. Patrick’s Day across New England, with highs in the 30s to near 40. It’s still breezy, with gusts up to 25 mph, but it’s not nearly as windy as Saturday. A few flurries will still fall across Northern and Western New England from time to time.

The work week will start on a cool note too, with highs again in the 30s and low to middle 40s on Tuesday.

A weak weather system passing to our south will bring a few extra clouds, and perhaps a spot flurry or rain shower, on Monday. We’ll be back to mostly sunny skies by Tuesday.

High pressure keeps sun locked in place on Wednesday, and also helps to warm us up back into the 40s and even near 50.

Spring official starts on Wednesday, just before 6 p.m.

More of us will be around 50 on Thursday, but we’ll also have some rain showers arriving as a cold front drops in from Northern New England. Some of this precipitation will fall as snow showers in the mountains of Northern New England.

Behind that front we’ll clear out and cool off a bit Friday into the start of next weekend, but temperatures rebound back closer to 50 soon thereafter.
