We conclude our New England heat wave with more highs in the 90s for the third day in a row. Heat index values stay in the 100-110 degree range through early evening.

Ongoing thunderstorms will continue across Maine with pop up showers and storms across the mountains. Just before 8 a.m., a storm spotter in Kokadjo reported ping pong size hail with a severe storm that moved through. The severe storm threat remains isolated in northern and central Maine through the evening with damaging wind & hail, along with heavy rain and lightning.

Highs will be near 100 for Hartford, Providence and Boston. Mid 80s is expected for Burlington, Vermont, low 90s in Portland and in Concord, New Hampshire. Heat index values will be between 100-110 for central and southern New England, then in the 90s this evening as the humidity sticks around.

Overnight lows will be in the 70s with some lowering dewpoints as a cold front moves through.

The widespread rain and storms will hold off for southern New England until Monday afternoon. There is a chance for a strong storm across the south coast, but otherwise the heavy rain will be in the main threat leading to localized flooding.

The showers and storms continue through Tuesday, and by the afternoon we may see 1-3 inches of rainfall. Highs will go from the low 80s Monday to the mid 70s on Tuesday. Then high pressure takes over mid-week and we stay seasonable with lower humidity and highs in the low 80s through Friday.

Next weekend should be dry with highs in the mid 80s.
