Burning Body Discovered on Side of Attleboro, Mass. Road

The burning body of an adult male was found on the side of a road in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Attleboro police say the body was discovered by a patroling officer at 3 a.m. Tuesday on Prescott Street, along a wooded section of the street.

The body appeared to have been placed on the side of the road. Officials thought it was a brush fire before realizing it was a burning body.

Officials are treating the incident as a homicide. No further details were immediately available.

Meanwhile, neighbors and police say the wooded area has become a real problem due to its proximity to I-95 and Exit 3.

"It's convenient for people who are going to meet up and exchange drugs off the highway," Attleboro Police Chief Kyle Heagney said.

Lynn Carroll, a neighbor, said the area has gotten so bad that she has had to keep a close eye on her children.

"It's a quick drop off, pick up, dump off and get on the highway," she said. "That's why I don't let me kids walk around the street."

Authorities said the victim was badly burned, so identifying the remains may take some time. An autopsy is expected to be completed by Wednesday.
