Authorities say the suspect was arrested after trying to walk away from the scene

A man is facing charges after he allegedly hit another man with his car in East Boston and tried to leave the scene Sunday morning.

Boston EMS responded to the area of 220 Saratoga St. just before 6:30 a.m. where a man was found lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A law enforcement source said the man was struck by a vehicle and dragged down the street for about 400 feet after some sort of confrontation.

Authorities say the man's name is still being confirmed.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Nalchajian of Lynn, was arrested after allegedly trying to walk away from the scene.

He has been charged with Operating Under the Influence, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident causing Death/Personal Injury and Vehicular Homicide.

A red vehicle at the scene was taken away as part of the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nalchajian will be arraigned Tuesday in East Boston Municipal Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
