You may have heard of a "Do Not Call" list, but now Marlborough, Massachusetts residents can add their names to a "Do Not Knock" list.
"I think it's a long time coming," said Sgt. Dan Campbell of Marlborough Police. "We get calls sometimes in dozens of neighborhoods with people asking them to not knock on their door."
The list, announced Tuesday, stops solicitors from knocking on doors, or else they face a fine.
Residents can sign up by visiting the police department's website, where they fill out a form with their name, address, telephone number, and email.
The address is then given to the companies and people who are permitted by police to solicit.
The list doesn't stop everyone from coming to your door, however.
If they're part of a political campaign or asking for a charitable donation, they can still come by.
