Dog Once Neglected Will Be Up for Adoption After Owner's Justice Process

Tigger the dog was found starving and covered with flees in Deerfield, Massachusetts

A dog in poor health who was abandoned in sweltering heat in Deerfield, Massachusetts is recovering well and will soon be ready to be put up for adoption.

Tigger, a dog who once suffered horrific abuse that left him emaciated and covered with flees, is now at a healthy weight, according to police. The Deerfield Police Department received various calls about the pooch before he was caught on Aug. 9 by a volunteer at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Regional Dog Shelter.

Thanks to the shelter’s extensive care, Tigger will look for his forever home after officials complete the justice process for the dog’s owner. His owner was charged with animal neglect on Sept. 13.

Tigger’s road to recovery amounted to extensive costs and the shelter is accepting donations to cover them. Those who wish to donate towards Tigger’s health costs can make a check to the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter in Turners Falls.

Officials did not give an exact date on when Tigger will be available for adoption.
